DR SHASHI MISHRA
MBBS, FRACGP
I graduated (MBBS) from Ranchi University, India IN 1998. Following this, I spent five years working as a medical practitioner in primary, secondary, and tertiary health care settings.
In 2004 I migrated to Australia and began work as a medical educator and curriculum developer at Medical Education Services Australia Pty Ltd. In addition to this full-time position, I commenced studying for the Australian Medical Council (AMC) examinations. In 2009 I began my medical training in Australia and started working as an intern at Austin and Northern Health following the computer match conducted by Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria. While working as PGPPP intern at Korumburra Medical Center for 11 consecutive weeks, I experienced Australian General Practice very closely by working as a GP under direct supervision. During this term I enjoyed the wide variety of work, covering aspects of different specialties and subspecialties. During this term I realized the important contribution a General Practitioner can make by offering early intervention and screening for large number of patients that has life long impact upon them. The structured experience during the PGPPP placement enabled me to consolidate my career aspiration to become a General Practitioner in Australian Health System. The PGPPP experience also helped me to identify the clinical knowledge and technical skills required to work as a competent GP and hence in later 2009, I applied for the Australian General Practice Training Program (VMA as training provider) and fortunately I was selected to pursue my training as GP with VMA.
In 2010, I began HMO year 2 training at Austin and Northern Health to meet with the minimum hospital training requirements for Australian General Practice Training program. In 2012, I completed GPT3 at Boronia Medical Practice. During 2012 I also successfully sat RACGP fellowship examinations and I am currently working at Pound Road Medical Centre and also enjoy patient care at Aged Care facilities.
